• The green industry is off to a good start for the spring of 2024, with many large growers reporting that their sales are ahead of schedule. 

• Rising costs, particularly for labor, have impacted margins. Most producers have been able to pass through price increases sufficient to cover these costs, but there is concern over whether that will continue. 

• Some growers report that “Big Box” stores have become increasingly difficult to service profitably, challenging to deal with, and are continually pushing costs back onto vendors, while simultaneously resisting price increases. Growers with sales concentrated to these customers may face challenges.
