January 12, 2022
Farm Credit East recently announced the Farm Credit East Cares Community Fund donated $105,000 to Northeast food banks and related organizations prior to the holiday season. With this contribution, Farm Credit East Cares surpassed more than $1 million contributed to various Northeast charities and disaster relief efforts since the program’s 2011 inception.
“Each year, we are in awe of the generous farm fresh products many of our customers contribute to local food banks throughout the year,” said Mike Reynolds, Farm Credit East CEO. “This donation is in recognition of their efforts as well as to help the region’s food banks continue their good work.”
To reach the greatest number of people, statewide food banks in each of the Northeast states Farm Credit East serves were selected. Organizations receiving donations included Feeding New York State, Community FoodBank of New Jersey, Fulfill, Food Bank of South Jersey, Connecticut Foodshare, Rhode Island Community Food Bank, Worcester County Food Bank, The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, The Greater Boston Food Bank, New Hampshire Food Bank, Good Shepherd Food Bank (Maine), and Vermont Foodbank.
“Farm Credit East Cares was initiated by our employees to support agricultural producers and the rural communities they serve. With this most recent donation, we are pleased to surpass $1 million provided to local communities in 10 years — an exciting milestone for this employee-initiated charitable fund,” continued Reynolds.
The Farm Credit East Cares Community Fund was established in 2011 to provide support for farm families and organizations impacted by crisis or disaster. In years without a disaster, funds are contributed to local and regional not-for-profit charitable organizations. Since inception, Farm Credit East Cares has donated more than $1 million.
